Résumé Readiness Package

If you’re ready for the next step in your career, let’s get your résumé ready, too.

Your professional value, expertise, and compensation have evolved since you wrote your first résumé.

So have résumé writing standards and norms. And so have the technologies (e.g., bots) that ingest and parse them before they ever reach a human reader.

I’m Jared Redick, and I help professionals bring their personal-professional brand (external goals) into balance with their career goals (internal drive).

My Résumé Readiness Package is the first, and most straightforward of my three private-client offerings (which you can compare below).

The package is built on a résumé-writing experience that goes far beyond a two-hour interview and a few drafts.

It’s career coaching with a tangible outcome: a usable professional brand.

As a former recruiter in New York and San Francisco, the questions I ask double as interview prep, and the answers I co-design with clients evolve their own view of what’s possible.

The best résumé and LinkedIn profile consultant I’ve ever known.
— CMO of a cloud-based life sciences company

Given what’s at stake in my clients’ professional lives, all of my work happens live and in real time using Zoom’s screen-sharing function.

Neither of us can write in a vacuum, since the content we commit to the page is a direct result of a decision made. The complexity of my clients’ professional careers makes it impossible for me to make decisions on their behalf.

Unlike my two intensive programs, which, again, you can compare in the chart below, The Résumé Readiness Package is for professionals whose career direction is already clear and their goal is to take:

  • An obvious next step in their career (e.g., promotion, lateral move in the same industry, new job with a title upgrade)

Rather than spending hours mired in uncertainty, make an investment that helps you get in front of your career goals.

Got more than one career direction? Check out the Career Integration Program (integrating 2-3 roles into a single brand), or Career Explorer Program (integrating multiple roles into a single brand, while exploring unknown job types).

Step 2 of 3: Review package and program details

In-depth work ahead.

The Résumé Readiness Package is a rigorous, guided experience where I work side-by-side with you to transform your existing résumé into a mature tool for growth and change.

First, the résumé is awesome. I’ve used it twice and it completely frames a different conversation. Second, working with you has made a substantive difference in planning my next level *and* it was enjoyable. Such a great combination.
— CRO résumé and LinkedIn profile, Silicon Valley, CA

The qualitative and quantitative work we do together has the byproduct of preparing you like you’ve never been prepared for future job interviews, press and media interviews, annual reviews, and other professional experiences and needs where you professional brand may come into play in your work life (e.g., RFPs, regulatory filings, investor pitches).

One of the most professionally satisfying things about my work is that clients regularly say they’re stunned by how much we say about them, things they’ve never considered, but we did it without sounding braggadocios.

The Résumé Readiness Package highlights your professional fitness for a single job, role, or career direction.

But make sure it’s right for you.

This isn’t a $49 résumé written by a faceless copy editor in a résumé mill. With my clients, every nuance counts, and nuance can’t be manufactured in a silo.

Simplicity, clarity, and brevity happen only with deep examination.

If we work together, expect an intensive but fun experience where you and I invest significant time and effort thoughtfully examining your professional life.

Here’s how it works:

The following details are designed to make the most of our first conversation.

After all, the work is meaningful and deserves a thoughtful approach. As you review each phase, jot down questions for me to answer when we connect. I’ll have plenty for you, too!

Phase 1: Future Prep

Future Prep for the Résumé Readiness Package is easy and comprises two steps:

  1. You provide me with one ideal job description that reflects your ideal next role or job. Can’t find just one job description? Blend the best elements of several job descriptions into a single ideal job description of your own creation.

  2. You and I will spend our first session together scaffolding your career story. By scaffolding, I mean setting up the framework within which we will tell your story.

These two steps set up a bit of a roadmap to match your story with up-to-date market needs within your career target. We’ll also blend our collective experience to be sure your leadership is set and tuned to the right level.

There are no Future Step sessions for the Résumé Readiness Package; you will simply be ready for your first résumé writing session.

Phase 2: Résumé Writing

Translate your intentions a powerful story.

With your single career, job, or role target in front of us, we’ll use the résumé writing process to map your future goals to past proof points. If direct proof points don’t exist, we’ll investigate how past experience has prepared you for this next step.

This is a hard but enlightening process.
— Sr. IP attorney, Palo Alto, CA

Since we’ll be connected via Zoom’s screen-sharing feature, you’ll be an integral part of the decision-making necessary to writing your own story. Because of that connection, the résumé writing process serves as a tool for gaining career clarity across a range of work sessions. The initial retainer includes:

  • Résumé Work Session 1

  • Résumé Work Session 2

  • Résumé Work Session 3

  • Résumé Work Session 4

  • Résumé Work Session 5

  • Résumé Work Session 6

  • Résumé Work Session 7

  • 30-minute flex window

If the engagement extends beyond the initial retainer, additional work will be booked at a mutually agreeable time and paid for hourly at the prevailing project rate. To minimize unexpected additions, all work is conducted in real-time collaboration with the client, typically via screen sharing.

Goal deliverables

Your work is so very brilliant. My resume stood at the top of 142 others for a [redacted company type] CEO role last year, and most recently to the board of an [XYZ]-listed funds management business I’ll likely join in April. So, thank you Jared.
— Investment-industry Managing Director and CEO, New South Wales

It’s not just all fun and games. The goal is for our detail grinding, challenging Q&As, visionary bursts of insight, and hopefully fun Zoom-based screen-sharing sessions will ultimately produce forward-looking Library of Master Documents, usable for your next move and beyond.

Deliverables include:

  1. Executive Résumé (for humans and machines / ATS)

  2. Résumé Addendum (if needed)

  3. Cover Letter Kit

  4. Variable Introductory Paragraphs for Cover Letter

  5. Thank You Letter Template

  6. Thank You Email Templates

  7. References Sheet

  8. Salary History Sheet (not necessary in all U.S. states)

CURRENTLY BEING PILOTED: Clients routinely report that our work together helped them interview more confidently. I am currently piloting a potential new deliverable called, “Interview Answer Bingo,” where answers to potential interview answers are formally captured as they emerge during our work. In some cases, clients are allocating standalone time for the activity at the end of a project.

Add-ons include LinkedIn profiles, executive / board bios, web copy, and pitch decks, as well as short-form bios for book jackets, speech introductions, social profiles, and other uses.
