Resumes. LinkedIn. Job Search Strategies. Ugh!
“Wow! I didn’t realize how exciting résumé writing / building could be. Also, this workshop made me feel inspired to research and analyze job descriptions.”
Losing a job unexpectedly is one of the most disorienting experiences in professional life. And in recent years, it's become disturbingly common. Whether you've conducted a job search recently or built your entire career at one company, preparing to re-enter the market can feel overwhelming, especially when the rules seem to have changed since you last looked.
I'm Jared Redick, and I've spent nearly three decades helping professionals navigate career transitions—from early-career pivots and midcareer reinventions to C-suite and board appointments. One of the first things I do with private clients is ask them to turn and face whatever fears they have. It makes it easier for me to be fast and frank about the challenges they might encounter (or may already be facing). It also removes judgment and makes it far easier to troubleshoot and problem-solve what is, and perhaps isn't, realistic in today's job market.
So if you and I were on a Zoom call together, the first thing I'd tell you is this: You're not going to do this perfectly. And that's okay. There are norms held by certain camps that aren’t followed or observed by other camps. The second thing I'd say is that you'll likely encounter frustrations along the way that are as unique to you as your own toothbrush.
Ideally, you want to strike center in your approach, and part of that is being aware of potentially glaring gaffes and leveraging the things that many others don’t know.
With that in mind, this webinar series is designed to fit somewhere between "not perfectly" and "as unique as your own toothbrush"—giving you as many tools, debunking as many myths, and acknowledging as many realities as possible so you can get into the market better prepared than when you started.
I've trained at professional associations, universities, and companies for most of my career, but I only recently started offering public webinars. So I hope you'll give me a bit of flexibility as we figure this out together—me learning the webinar format, you learning what I have to share.
My goal is to help, not to be perfect at this point—especially relevant since I developed this series quickly in response to the 13,000-person Verizon layoff. I've always wanted my frameworks to extend beyond my private clients, and this felt like the right moment. You might see a typo or two. You'll definitely see some content still evolving. And having mostly worked with small groups, I'm honestly a bit nervous about a room full of people on the other side of the screen.
But I'm doing hard things. You're doing hard things. Let's see if we can do something powerful together.
This free webinar introduces the principles we'll explore in detail across the three "Résumé in a Day" sessions (book one, two, or all three as a package), as well as the standalone LinkedIn profile development session.
I'll cover high-level, immediately useful guidance for the most common challenges people face when launching a job search. Jot your questions in the Zoom chat as we go—my co-presenter will read them aloud and I'll answer in real time.
The free webinar gives you high-level guidance on resume strategy, job search planning, LinkedIn quick wins, and networking—immediately useful, no fluff. The paid sessions go deep: hands-on frameworks, live analysis, guided writing, and direct coaching you can apply to your specific situation. Here are the five paid sessions (book individually or as a package):
Session 1 of 3: Résumé Norms, Strategies & Scaffolding: How to think about your resume before you write a word.
Session 2 of 3: Job Description Analysis: Stop looking out the rearview mirror! Look out the windshield, identify the right opportunities, and target them with research and analysis.
Session 3 of 3: Guided Résumé Writing Session: A deep dive into what makes a differentiated resume today, and how that differs by seniority, experience, and target audience (and for leaders, it's not graphs, charts, colors, and columns). Includes conversion from human to machine versions.
Add-on Session: LinkedIn: Build LinkedIn discoverability through strategic keywords and storytelling.
Add-on Session: “Drop-in Access”: Bring your drafts and questions and join up to 20 others for drop-in access to coaching in a group setting.
Because you may be job searching right now, here are strategic, tactical, and mindset principles that can help you get started right away. (Mindset is sometimes the biggest challenge.)
Unless time is on your side, I always remind clients that a bird in the hand is better than two in the bush. Yes, you should make your resume as strong as possible—but don't let perfection stand in the way of submitting something good enough today. Missing a deadline means you never get to compete.
We'll do a deep dive on resume writing in two of the three sessions, including how to modify your resume so it has the best chance of making it through applicant tracking systems (ATS) without losing the human reader.
Add a recent photo (if you're using a photo). I need to do this myself, so consider this a classic case of the cobbler's children having no shoes.
Upload or update your background image so it complements your profile photo.
Clean up your LinkedIn URL. If there's a trail of random characters after your last name, customize it to just your name. Example: linkedin.com/in/jaredredick. It's a quick fix—Google or ChatGPT can walk you through it if needed.
I’m pretty sure you just rolled your eyes or your neck bristled at that headline, but your network is often where the warmest and friendliest leads come from. Think of networking as planting seeds. Don't expect them to sprout right away. Just let people know what's happening. If your connections don't know you're looking, they can't keep an eye out for you.
And yes, they'll probably say, "Sure, send me your stuff!" or follow up coffee with "Send me your résumé!" So you'll need materials. But we'll get to that.
These are the absolute simplest ideas—there's much, much more in this session alone, and then we'll go deep in the paid sessions.
Each session includes guidance and frameworks you can use immediately.
Resume session. You’ve receive a resume starter kit in Word.
LinkedIn session: You'll get the intensive questionnaire Jared's private clients complete—a tool that explores foundational concepts spanning resume writing, LinkedIn development, and interview preparation.
All materials are yours to keep and reuse.
No prep work is required before your first session—just bring your current resume or LinkedIn profile (if you have one) and your questions. Come ready to work through real examples and leave with actionable next steps.
No prep work is required, but it's helpful to have a current resume, LinkedIn profile, or a few job postings you're interested in available during all sessions—just in case you want to reference them as we work through examples.
This very first session—a free webinar—provides helpful foundational context for the paid sessions, but it's not required. You're welcome to start wherever makes the most sense for your timeline and goals.
All sales are final. For the free webinar, no registration is required to cancel. For paid sessions: if you cannot attend live, please contact us to discuss options.
Special Note: This session covers broad, universal strategies for resume and LinkedIn development after a layoff. It does not replace personalized client work or provide function-specific career guidance. For tailored strategy and detailed feedback on your materials, private coaching is available.
You can register for individual sessions to target specific challenges, or save by purchasing the complete package upfront as a 3-pack bundle. Both options give you the same expert guidance and materials. Note: Bundle pricing is only available when you register for all sessions together at the start—individual sessions cannot be retroactively combined for the discount.
The free webinar provides helpful context for the paid sessions, but it's not required. You're welcome to start wherever makes the most sense for your timeline and goals.
The sessions follow a logical progression, so taking them in order creates the most cohesive experience. That said, each session delivers standalone value, so feel free to start with whichever addresses your most urgent need.
Yes. Live sessions are offered on multiple dates, so you can attend them all on the same day, spread them across different dates, or take just the sessions you need.
No. We’re choosing speed over polish so we can get this support to people affected by recent layoffs. Future sessions may include recordings as we refine the program.
🚨🚨🚨 The paid sessions are being finalized and will open for registration in the next few days.🚨🚨🚨
Join the free webinar to learn what's coming. We'll share booking details for the paid sessions still in development at the end. Or check back here in the next few days.
