Indeed, the rarefied air they occupy means that there are fewer high-value roles from which to choose, and those high-value roles aren’t necessarily open just because a leader is ready to move.

A central part of my practice from its earliest days has been helping leaders unravel, understand, and repackage their professional value around a clear professional brand, and while doing so, they position themselves as long-term targets of acquisition.

We do it all by first understanding the pros and cons associated with being an active, stealth, or passive job seeker, identifying the intersection between where they’ve been and where they want to go, and positioning their professional stories and strategies to bring it all to life.

I’ve done that over last two-and-a-half decades, drawing on my work in retained executive search to make sure the most nuanced leadership stories are actively usable and passively findable for the world’s rarest of leaders.
